To help people learn how to study the Bible and ultimately encounter the Living Word (Jesus) through the Written Word.
God planted the idea of Swordfish in Ty’s life around 2004 when he shared with his wife that he wanted to create a direct and deep study of every book in the Bible and he saw the Sword (or Bible), being merged with an Ichthus (fish) symbolizing ancient Christianity. This was confirmed around 2007 when Ty and his wife purchased various carved sculptures of animals from a bookstore in Leggett, CA and one of them was a swordfish. In 2020, during covid lockdowns, the church that Ty attended began meeting on zoom. Within a few months the meeting turned more into a Bible Study and the pastor took another position out of state. Ty continued to facilitate the Bible Study and this provided motivation to write more Bible Studies. Through a family connection, Ty got to know Hailey Miller, a talented illustrator and her work was displayed in the published James’ study in 2023. Since that time, the zoom Bible Study moved to Ty’s home where he continues to facilitate and write the Swordfish Bible Study one book at a time.
